Democrats In Damage-Control Mode As House Moves To Censure Rep. Al Green

The House has narrowly moved along strict party lines to censure Democrat Representative Al Green (D-TX) for his breach of decorum during President Trump's joint-congressional address on Tuesday night, highlighting the stark political divide in our nation's capitol.
The vote was 211-209.
During the address, Rep. Green stood up and began to openly challenge and defy the president, interrupting his speech, and refusing to back down after being warned. He was ultimately removed from the chamber.
What Green hoped to accomplish in doing this is unclear.
Surely he knew that he would be removed. Did he want to be a martyr? Was it his design to prompt other Democrats to do the same? If so, it certainly failed.
But that didn't stop Democrats from acting out in other ways. Many of them held up protest signs during the speech, itself arguably a breach of decorum.
President Trump, for his part, pulled no punches and openly called out the Democrats, to their faces, for their staunchly personal anti-Trump stances on virtually everything, accusing them of refusing to applaud or clap for anything objectively good he may do. And the Democrats played right into his hands as Trump highlighted numerous positive developments and even gave shout outs to people in the audience who had overcome amazing challenges and tragedies to attend the address as guests of honor.
Democrats would not stand or clap for the kid who overcame brain cancer and was made an honorary member of the Secret Service. They would not clap for the young man who was approved to go to West Point. They would not clap or give honor for the woman whose 12 year old daughter was brutally raped and murdered by illegal immigrants. Nor would they show any appreciation for the young woman whose athletic glory was stolen from her because of a man playing in a woman's sport.
Trump knew exactly what he was doing.
Indeed, it can be reasonably assumed that Trump's design was to put the Democrats' behavior on open display to the American people.
He wanted to showcase the hatred they have for him personally and show how it affects our government policy.
And it worked amazingly well.
Could Democrats have been more stupid?
They have been played, and they allowed it to happen.
What average Americans saw was a President highlighting achievements and honoring people who deserved it, and Democrats throwing a tantrum.
This is a speech that will long be remembered for this behavior alone, because the real story of it isn't what the President said, but how the Democrats reacted.
With the 2026 congressional midterm elections on the horizon, this is definitely a bad look for the Democrats and if they don't repair their image, they could suffer considerably.
